Good morning Revolution everybody and happy holidays great to see all of you uh we got a lot to talk about uh today we have everybody is back R and Anita and Scott everybody's here and ready to go good to go which is great because our lineup is probably

Going to change and with the coming of the new year a little bit and we got a lot of surprises in store for you in 20 24 so long as we're able to defeat the fascist danger and we don't all end up in jail or work I'm confident that we're

Going to defeat it we're going to be talking about that and the impact of the US imperialist policy the in Gaza and around the world and its impact on the potential impact on the US elections we're going to be talking about what happened in Colorado we got

Got a brave Supreme Court there you know they get your blankety blank behind off the ballot Mr Mr Mr Man and uh so we're going to see whether or not our panelists think that's a good idea or or not in New York the governor is following the example of Rosana State of

California has set up a commission to look into reparations to make up for past discrimination slavery um and everything that's happened after so we're going to be talking about that and then lastly uh poll which were the party would doing end of the year polling to see what

Movies you like what uh books you like what TV series do you like what have you happened upon any good uh recipes lately I need a good recipe for apple pie I bought one yesterday big gantic and and and and normally these pies are tasty when you get them small

But the big ones you got Dar apples are only half cooked Anita the crust is great but half cooked anyway so we're gonna be talking about new things and new recipes and good books and poetry and good music what what what you like and and that kind of thing we sent out a

Poll yesterday and because we only had like 14 responses in the day before now we have over a hundred so thank you very much for signing up we want to encourage everybody to fill out that form let us know what you like we love democracy and member

Engagement so you know keep keep it coming uh Anita three4 of the American people are in favor of a ceasefire but only 30 in the house and maybe two or three in the Senate Bernie has come on board finally about time Mr Sanders Senator Sanders what you been waiting on uh what

Gives I mean uh broad public support yet you Ed representatives are slow to the role so far what gives Anita well thanks Joe it's certainly not the first time that our legislators are not listening to the people uh this happens repeatedly in in in state legislatures and and in the

Federal government I mean people want gun control people want um you know basic uh uh abortion rights for example vast majority of people and yet our legislators are not uh not not jumping to that I think it's there's there's something in between there's money and politics for one thing uh that that

Really um keep legislators listening to the lobbyists and and the big contributors instead of um instead of to the people that they're representing uh they also are are weighing um there's a huge generation gap here um very sadly um that very much older voters are um are leaning towards supporting Israel

Because their views of Israel I think were shaped by um the 1960s and the 1950s when we were subjected to a certain you know narrative on Israel and people still have not revised their estimation since then and old people uh vote and they they may be feeling that

They have to listen to those voters but I think it's really at the their Peril because the vast majority of people as you said are really leaning towards demanding a ceasefire and if they aren't listened to uh their their anger will be taken out in future uh electoral contests

Sadly uh or appropriately you said money and politics maybe you might want to reformulate that Anita to say money is politics and you saying Young to Money Talks BS walks Rosana Rosana uh poll show wide dissatisfaction among young people in particular youth of color they a they ain't standing for this policy is

Biden gonna lose the election do you think I mean what what I mean Mid Ohio Michigan uh Colorado big you know Arab populations add that to Black Folk Latino Asian hello what's what's up with that well I think we have to help help people understand how necessary it is to

Make a full analysis of our current situation Trump is talking about throwing us all out of the US especially people of color he's not going to care whether you were born here or not um there's a lot of suffering if Trump gets elected much

More um and so there's a lot it's it's a lot uh writing on this election so I I'm hoping now but um you know I think it's too early to really tell not really don't have any conclusions yet I don't know where we goingon to go

Rosan I was thinking well we could go to Mexico but you got family down there you in uro but now they said they going to they send send the Republicans are calling for invading Mexico so we might go across the border and then the US Army will be right

Behind us no place to go Scott um labor Black Folk UAW as now come out for a ceasefire postal workers ceasefire coalitional labor union women ceasefire ALU ceasefire UE ceasefire on November 15th uh several thousand black leaders of Faith Christian took out a full page ad in the New York

Times Biden seese fire I shouldn't bound The Producers gonna say Joe stop pounding the table uh but the Biden Administration is not listening what should people do Scott uh keep demanding as many times as loudly as publicly uh as insistently as possible um because I think the the other part of

This uh of of legislators and elected officials not uh responding to the very clear majority the very clear demand for a ceasefire is that um many people just don't people are are are conditioned and trained not to think that they can wield power um not to to

Think that you know democracy means that once every couple of years they get to vote right and um that's your only Leverage and and if you don't like what the person's doing you withhold your vote from them but that's not how we see it um we need to we need to get people

Um you know continually you know in the streets on the phone uh through through letters um demanding this this ceasefire because it's necessary um and what we've seen with with all these groups that you mentioned Joe the the NAACP um the the black Faith leaders the UAW um is the recognition that this

Ceasefire is a key component of the struggle for democracy it's it's about the the right of the American people to say what our tax dollars are used for and our right as human beings to say no to to A system that is um that that is promoting genocide against the

Palestinian people so the more uh the more people engage in the struggle for a ceasefire the stronger and the more effective the fight against fascism is going to be um you know going forward don't you think that we not only have to turn the keep the pressure on we got to

Turn the volume up is not enough to keep the pressure the volume has to be turned up and the only language that the ruling class understand at the end of the day is power money power production of goods is power the transportation of those goods is power you know um

Stopping bringing it to a Hal shutting it down that that's the only thing that they understand ultimately you know and so we're going to have to continue to work to keep the pressure on you know I was in a conversation last night and somebody said well the city council in

My city is so conservative they're not going to do anything what's the point of trying to move them well you could say the same thing about the US Congress you know but the point is to build movements on the ground you know so that people learn what's taking place learn about

The stakes learn how to exercise their power isn't that what it's all about you know can I one thing huh add please um so um money money's power Joe's right um and one of the things that we're seeing is um attacks on members of Congress who

Have come out in favor of a ceasefire attempts to fund primary challenges to them um so one way of showing our support uh for those members of Congress who have come forward is you know a lot of people around the new year start thinking about you know causes they

Might support where they might uh make Financial contributions kick a few bucks to some of these Representatives that have been uh so strong to to Rashida TB to um my former Congressman chewy Garcia in Chicago who I'm gonna uh kick a few bucks to to Elon Omar to you know the

The party put out a tool kit um that has lists of co-sponsors uh there's more more have been added since then um uh Nidia Velasquez um our producer just mentioned yeah kick him a few bucks um and send him note saying thank you and I've contributed to your campaign and

That that'll show other uh uh elected officials as well that you know we don't have a lot of money but what we have we we do what we can with it no business as usual activists in DC went to the mayor was having a party our comrades were

Part of it and they said no Christmas party as usual you know we're not boogie into the mass murder and Gaza you know we're not no no no no no no you gota y'all got to act right you got to do the right thing and until then until you do

The right what they Ain no justice no peace Anita that's now the Supreme Court in Colorado they exercised a little power the other day they said um Trump you are guilty of insurrection go directly to jail get your behind off the ballot do not collect $500 like a Monopoly game y'all play

Monopoly um very brave of them because you know they the rightwing these fascists are threatening everybody we're gonna come back to that in just a moment lightning round will the Supreme Court because it's going to be appeal Trump has appealed it to the Supreme Court will the Supreme Court of these United

States with this 5 to8 majority was it 6 to9 I forget six to whatever that number is three say yes or no on the appeal Anita yes or no supreme court they'll overturn it in in Trump's uh favor which is just against exactly what it says in the

Constitution they're gonna turn it over in a New York minute you think H Rosana yes or no the Supreme Court's going to rule in Trump's favor I don't know I'm still surprised that the fool got on to become president so I don't know okay abstain Scott yes or no the

Supreme Court will rule overrule the Colorado Supreme Court and vote go ahead I I I'm not sure I agree with Anita I I think so Trump has a worse record in front of the Supreme Court than any president since uh the 1930s I read somewhere um he he really

Does not have a great record despite um appointing you know so many of the justices uh and so and I think the Supreme Court is also reeling right now from you know a lot of these ethics uh scandals and there there's a very very strong push to try and restore the the

Image of the Court as this impartial whatever um so I think that the court is going to be a little more circumspect than might otherwise have been um and I I don't think this is going to I think they're going to try to make the most

Narrow kind of uh technical thing to say yes you know we're we're upholding the Colorado Supreme Courts ruling but this close to election time you know it should something like that I think it's going to be a really you know kind of double speak I don't think it's going to

Be you know in favor of democracy but I don't think it's going to be um a quick decision in favor of trump either okay I don't know either I'm I'm I it's two Anita says no Scott says yes kind of rosan says I don't know I don't know

Either I think that they're probably gonna say this thing has to be decided by an election you know because of the deep deep well because first of all all right Wingers not all of them got six right Wingers and I think you're right Scott that's this Justice Roberts is

Gonna try to split the difference but but to the right you know and probably and uh but ultimately this thing is going to have to be uh what's best for the support the court to do it or for an election to decide it I need it does it

Matter I think it is I think it is best for the people to decide it but it's just one more one more chance of stopping Trump from uh his ultimate uh you know taking over and perhaps dictatorship in the United States um and and we we look back on the the times

That when he could have been stopped in particular the uh second impeachment when when just a few more people voting against uh Trump would have meant he wasn't eligible for further office and he should not be eligible anyone who does not uh who stands as an obstacle to

The the the peaceful transition of power which we have understood to be a Bedrock of the uh Democratic uh process you know forever since George Washington I I don't think he deserves to be ever uh elected to an elected office or or any office and probably does deserve to be

Uh in prison for that but you know I'm I'm happy with him just losing all his money and maybe getting exiled to some you know uh far away place where we won't have to hear him anymore uh but never never an elected office he should never be allowed back you where you

Gonna send him don't nobody want him uh Ela Ela I don't know where I mean what Ros insult right even if there's an election they gonna say Trump and gonna say it was stolen you know so no no matter what you do they're going object so does it matter whether

It's the court that rules I think what would matter is if a massive amount of people go out and vote that's how you you know we've seen other elections in other countries like in Mexico they you know even if they committed fraud to to stop the the current president from being elected

They couldn't it wasn't big enough to uh um because there's the you know record number of people went and voted so their attempt to commit fraud was was uh unsuccessful because there was just too many people that went out and vote so I think a massive amount of people

That really go out and vote uh it will make a big difference and there it will be undeniable but we have to go out and vote we have to do it you know people are still debating you know Trump has started this they're poisoning our blood garbage again

Echoing Hitler and mind C they're poisoning blood and but why are people still debating Scott whether or not this boy's a fascist you know in 2021 his former Chief of Staff quoted John Kelly General John Kelly Trump is saying Hitler did a lot of great things guy I mean Scott where where's the

Debate so I want to start by um just kind of reminding folks that you know before anybody else was seriously talking about fascism we were the ones who who raised that we were the ones uh the Communist Party said it's time to say the F-word right it's time to call

Trump and call this threat what it is um uh and um I think there there was there was resistance to it then and there's resistance to it now because um a lot of people people um understand that when when you're faced with fascism you have

To fight and a lot of people don't want to fight a lot of people want to want to sit back and think oh you know what it really it's not that big a deal the system is designed to handle multiple perspectives peaceful transfer no we are facing a fascist threat a struggle is

Necessary everyone who values democracy has to be involved and we say the work class has to be in the lead but it is a struggle that requires everyone who has any interest in democracy and that's why people are are are resistant to calling it what it is because they they the

Ruling class in particular um you know they're they're happy with the most minimal amount of democracy possible democracy for them uh and they they don't want to be drawn into uh because when you fight to preserve democracy you have to fight to expand democracy they're not separable

Um and that's the resistance I think but Anita where's the Democracy for Gaza there's no democracy for the people in Gaza and the West Bank they're bombing them the kingdom come and it's it's Biden that's doing it so I mean h How You Gonna convince people to aren't all of them

Fascists oh no Joe uh they're not all fascists I think we are uh Biden is is no different than previous presidents and that he's uh pursuing an imperialist uh line uh Visa the world um and I don't think that um that he's yeah he's he's

He's not any more of a fascist well he's not a fascist you know clearly uh Trump is has fascist leanings or is a fascist in his speech and in some of the the the policies that he's espousing and in many of the policies that he's promising to

Carry out when he becomes If he if he uh succeeds in becoming president again uh Biden is is definitely not uh there I mean they aren't definitely are not listening to the will of the people uh on this particular issue and especially not listening to youth in this country

Um that I think really need to need to be addressed uh but I but Biden is not a fascist Biden has done there's there's the Biden Administration has allowed the working class to exert its will in more areas than uh ever were possible under Donald Trump as president

And in many cases under previous uh democratic presidents um so I think we we have to look at not just Democrats and Republicans as as who's the ruling class but instead look at corporate uh ruling class Finance Capital the the reactionary uh uh portions of of the

Ruling class and look at what where is their will being done and where is the will of the working class being uh carried out um so I think Biden uh has a record that uh has allowed more of more uh benefits for working people than uh than than previous presidents so I don't

Think he's a fascist no we have to it it it dilutes the term fascism to call Biden a fascist thy will be done thy kingdom come I mean the will of the working CL they didn't allow the working class the working and people pushed their way in

It wasn't allowed I mean you know it wasn't and and to the degree that there's influence but Biden's a old school Pennsylvania Centrist Democrat at the end of the day carrying out the will of the big Corporation Scott you have yeah word I was going to say that in a

Certain sense it's not a question of uh whether such and such individual is a fascist or not um the fascism the fascist threat is um organized by a section of the ruling class that builds a mass base for itself but it also exerts pressure on the rest of the

Ruling class and Biden's um foreign policy is a product of the ascendency of trump because Biden is very different on foreign policy questions than Obama was and the the the the rise of the extreme right the the the intensification of the fascist threat is what pulled um Democrats even more to even more

Reactionary positions on foreign policy um for various reasons some were attempting to kind of outflank uh uh Trump and paint themselves as more you know hawkish on National Security whatever the the the overall effect was that the stronger the extreme right gets the more the other section of the ruling

Class gets pulled uh into its orbit and that's what we're fighting oh my God what has happened Scott and I finally agree on one point it must be the day after winter roess something's in the air magnetic something or other brought our two positions together absolutely right New York has created a commission

To look into reparations following California which uh approved the commission and now the commission is recommending that they Grant $1.2 million to all descendants of slavery 1.2 million I I move to California Rosana I'm be million there there there's a Provisions I think you have to have lived in California for

A certain amount of time I think it was I can't remember about to buy me a Mercedes Benz oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes oh my friend you know the challenge is of course the the money you know is there enough money to do that and I

Think you know um there's plenty of money if the corporations would pay their fair share of taxes if California uh charged an extraction tax for oil there's plenty of money to do that so I I think the whole money issue is something that is being used to not move

Forward uh but um it can start somewhere it can start by providing free Education Health Care uh a decent place to live you know uh that that in itself boosts your own self-esteem your own ability to move forward because having those basic needs met allows you to thrive and to

Move in you know more in a um you know forward direction as opposed to just you're stagnant because you can't you don't know where you're going to get medicine you don't know where you know you have problems with your housing you have problems with your education how you going to get

Educated those are really important things to uh really feel like you're a full Citizen and really feel like you you um are a part of the society and and and your self-esteem is also uh fortified by those by those basic needs absolutely right I agree with you

Too I agree with you a lot though but I must say I I was about to sing for the first time on good morning Revolution that song what was that folk singer back in the 60s andita who used to sing that song oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz all my

Friend Janice Janice dlin you remember her Rosana cill I must make am mans that was a great song very satirical um is that the solution Anita reparation what what is I thought you were G to ask m mercedesbenz is not the solution but but what is the mar approach

To solving the problem of inequality caused by centuries old uh capitalist exploitation how do you how do you address that what I I think there has to be Solutions on a lot of different levels and well these these efforts in New York and California sound like a start they are just commissions

To study something and right away there's going to be uh you know so much push back and of course when Evanston Illinois had uh did uh uh Institute reparations they give $25,000 towards home ownership to eligible uh residents of Evanston Illinois and they found that

One of the uh uh uh consequences of of slavery in that area in Illinois was uh problems with housing especially during the Jim Crow era um and at that time people said well you can't do it on the local level you need it on the national level that's three or four trillion

Dollars or 33 trillion or something like that but then you think about the international level and how the entire Caribbean was IM Miser for Centuries by uh the British and the French the French have stolen so many billions of dollars from Haiti and and as a result Haiti is

The poorest country in the um in the Western Hemisphere and other other Caribbean islands when you look at there's a great movie called the price of memory that came out about 10 years ago that really focused on how these beautiful buildings in in London were

Really uh paid for by uh The Blood Sweat and Tears of enslaved Africans in the Caribbean so I think once you start looking at those um reparations and what is really owed to people who have been exploited for hundreds of years it's just so overwhelming and I think it

Might be more practical to you know make that a make people aware of that inequality and that that sustained uh structural inequality that began in in um in the 1600s basically but also um to attack it on every level um attack it via institutions like I think some um

Some universities have seen themselves um you know have seen their studied their own um exploitation of people of color and try to make some amends so I think it has to be attacked on all levels uh including learning about those um inequalities and their structural roots in slavery and that's through um

Good education in history and not what uh you know the Republicans want you to learn in your history classes good point but you know you don't even have to go all the way back to 15 16 17th 18th 19th century subprime crisis Scott they targeted black and Latino homeowners in the

Main with loans that they knew couldn't repay escalating huh that's I'm gonna try this one and that's part of a just a pattern of um the exclusion uh from an uh exclusion from the real estate from Real Estate ownership and exploitation of um people of color in the process of of trying to

Acquire um you know homes that um so there's if we think about um redlining and and the denial of mortgages uh to um to African-Americans in in particular um that locked them out of the the only real source of wealth that the working class has had in this

Country which is home ownership right home people bought homes for cheap the value Rose well people who were locked out of that system um you know didn't get any of that wealth and then on top of it as Joe said the subprime mortgage crisis targeted those people offering them uh you know

Cheap home loans and then you know suddenly they were on the hook for for huge mortgage payments so just for that alone uh reparations would be justified whether in the form of cash payments or in the form of you know um zero interest credit from the federal government for

For home purchases or any number of things but when we think about reparations it's I think if you think about it in the capitalist perspective it's very limited right oh what how do we add up the amount of money that you know was stolen from people and then you

Know divide that by the number of descendants and parcel it out right that's that's a good start like Anita said but if we think of it in a socialist perspective all of socialism is about reparations um reparations uh for uh Native people whose whose land was stolen whose cultures were were um

Pushed to the the brink of of Extinction um uh African-Americans who suffered from slavery the working class whose whose labor has been uh stolen right reparation is a much bigger thing that requires systemic social change as well and within that you need special compensatory measures special to make up for past

Discrimination directed at women at Black Folk at Latino at Asians special com that's what affirmative action is all about you know to make up for past that's the that's the solution part of it by the way nobody went to jail subprime they made billions of dollars and no not one

Money's power not one person went to jail and they almost brought down the world economy it was the biggest wealth loss in Black and Latino history and we still haven't recovered from it I mean people okay uh we're going to move the agenda we we're coming to a close but

Before we do let's have a little fun favorite movie of the year or favorite TV series Anita you got one I spent the morning tearing my hair out thinking how can I make a good communist argument for Barbie uh because Barbie was my favorite movie of the year I've watched it twice

I have an appointment to watch it next Wednesday with some other folks so um it's just a a good-hearted uh you know send up of of gender gender roles and uh and gender relationships and a certain it's it's just a it's just a a funny movie and uh I thoroughly enjoyed it um

But I I have no reason I have I have high brow taste when it comes to um books but uh I I it's too soon to talk about 2023 books because they're not available to me in the library yet so I'm still catching up with my 2021 and

2022 books but um but I'm there are great books coming out and um but you know I don't see a lot of movies but I've seen that one and I really enjoyed it and Barbie okay is that your favorite movie Scott Barbie uh I got to say I

Haven't been to see many movies this year um I wanted to see Oppenheimer and I wanted to see Barbie I still want to see him I didn't get to see either um uh the only movie I went to see was the the the new PAW Patrol movie with my

Five-year-old um and I I thoroughly disliked that one I used to like the PAW Patrol but for some reason this this latest movie they decided to um militarize it that all of a sudden the the these puppies who are rescue workers or whatever have a an aircraft carrier

And weapons and stuff and and that was a real turnoff so that's my vote for most disappointing but it's also the only movie I saw this year Rosanna you have a favorite movie of the year no I don't go to movies I haven't I've heard of you know good movies but I

Just don't I get I get too Restless in in movie theaters so I know but I did read a uh I've read several books over the year but um one recent one uh I read was um it's called Finding Me by um Viola Davis and I thought it was very a very

Watch a lot of stuff on Netflix and you know other streaming server my favorite streaming series was the English it's on Netflix the it's a western actually first I was thought I thought it was about the something that was taking place in the UK and they do have a

Or something and she comes here looking for the father of her son who left and immigrated to the United States but he was perpetrating in more ways than one I'm I'm just going to leave it there you had to find out how and why and she was

  1. 13:10 As boo boo as Trump was and is, he has not been found guilty of any crimes nor has he been found guilty of insurrection charges unless comrades have contrary evidence. The PSL candidate is prepping to run as Peace and Freedom in California. Could this be a coalition our comrades should join?
The 14th Amendment requires due process in regards to insurrection charges. The Colorado Supreme Court did not, unless there’s evidence to the contrary, have a hearing or trial with Trump since they aren’t criminal judges and thus cannot decide whether or not Trump committed insurrection.
Thus, the US Supreme Court would overturn it due to the way the 14th Amendment was written. Please don’t be ignorant, comrades, since this approach makes us look bad.
Also, Trump AND Biden are fascists. Both have expressed racist sentiment, with Biden doing it more so, and they both defend capitalism and imperialism over the people’s interests, with Biden defending imperialism more so than Trump. Biden’s Democratic Party shut down their primary in Florida recently, which is akin to Trump-level corruption.
The Communist Party will lose legitimacy if y’all can’t tear apart Biden for being a fascist, too. Biden funded more police than Trump did with no concessions for the BLM movement. He continued Title 42 at the border.
I can’t stand Trump, but he at least passed Executive Orders to lower insulin prices for more folks than just Medicare recipients. Biden broke the railway strike in December 2022, while Trump shut down no strikes even if Trump is toxic to a working class movement.
“Carrying our the will of the big corporations” is fascistic already. Biden permits and doesn’t counter censorship that Democratic and Republican Party officials push for Zionist tyranny.

California only had slavery from around 1848 to 1855, which was done mainly to indigenous Americans, and California sadly enforced the Fugitive Slave Act into the Civil War. But reparations are important and should also be included to these indigenous folks.
